MCCLOSKEY is UIC Distinguished Professor of Economics, History, English, and Communication University of Illinois at Chicago, and Distinguished Professor in Philosophy and Art and Cultural Studies Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands.STEPHEN ZILIAK is Associate Professor of Economics, Roosevelt University, Chicago.
Robert M. Solow is Institute Professor Emeritus and Professor of Economics Emeritus at MIT and is one of the major figures of neo-Keynesian synthesis macroeconomics. In 1987 he was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics.

did you know that economics are a literary science?

This is a collection of articles based on the speeches given at a conference on the rhetoric of economics. The approach to economics isn't mathematical this time, but literary. In this book, several authors, with different academical backgrounds (economists, lawyers, philosophers, linguists) analyse how literary critic could improve the practice of economics, and what the economists actually talk about and how they persuade. To enjoy this one, you ought to be aware of the present debate on the methodology of economics, because in this book very few consequences are extracted, most of it is arguing and refutation. Stanley Fish's article is in my opinion the more interesting one, while Weintraub's and Heilbroner's are weak. I would recommend reading McCloskey's "The rhetoric of economics" first, the blueprint for all the debate to follow.
