"Paul D. Cherulnik", Ph.D., has taught psychology at a number of colleges and universities for over 30 years. This is his third book. The others include a previous research methods book and a collection of case studies of the application of behavioral research in design fields such as architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture. He has also published over two dozen research papers, most dealing with relationships between physical appearance and social behavior. Recently, he has been developing and validating a scale that measures people's beliefs about the Culture of Honor.
Margaret Schneider Jamner is a Research Associate at the School of Social Ecology at the University of California, Irvine. Daniel Stokols is Professor and Dean Emeritus of the School of Social Ecology at the University of California, Irvine.

A Necessary Classic in Environmental Psychology

Cherulnik's book is an extraordinarily concise and well explained set of cases ordered to introduce researchers from all concerned areas into environmental psychology. As an architect I found there more than hints to reference and improve my doctoral research, but a clear map to many serious problems of that multidisciplinary area. The application of environment-behavior theory and research in architecture is very disputed among old and young design praticants, and Cherulnik shows its potential and limitations in a amazingly systematic and earnst way. I think that more cases must be added to make that order of presentation more ecumenical - a suggestion that implies the deepening and multiplication of examples in very needy fields as low rent housing and neighborhood's planning. Excellent.
